34.699 Days of Gottfried Honegger

13. Juni - 30. November 2012

On the occasion of the artist Gottfried Honegger´s 95th birthday (born 12 June 1917 in Zurich), the Otten Kunstraum dedicated its fifth exhibition to the Swiss artist. Following a retrospective which opened in 2009, the second exhibition features recent reliefs and sculptures.

“I am not a painter; I am interested in space, shadow, and light. Once I created my works in marble, granite, and wood. Today my sculptures are made of metal, chrome steel. This flexible material allows me to create works which make visible an exterior and an interior.”
(Gottfried Honegger, 2012)

Gottfried Honegger is one of the most important international representatives of constructive-concrete art of his generation. His work plays an important role in the Otten Collection. For the exhibition, Gottfried Honegger made the design for the sculpture “Z 231” available at no charge. Together with the Rotary Club Vorarlber, the work was issued according to the design in an edition of 20. The proceeds from the sales benefitted the project “Tischlein deck dich Vorarlberg”.
